My daughter started to read books when she was in preschool. She used to read easy books by herself. My husband and I started to read more advanced books before she went to bed. Despite our efforts to teach her, we felt very said when we found out that our daughter didn’t show great interest in reading. She said that the books that she could read were boring. She would preferred to listen to interesting stories instead of reading by herself.
One day I was browsing around in a bookstore and my eyes stopped on the Junie B. Jones book series. These are stories about a funny girl who grew from kindergarten to first grade. The language of these books was easy and the stories were interesting. As you guessed, I bought these books. My daughter loved them! She could relate to the stories, that were happening with Junnie B. She told me that she and Junie have the same life experience. Now she loves to read. It is important to find books in which your child can feel a relationship with the story.
